Bio

We have met today to pay the last tribute of respect to Bonnie Ethel CHANEY, daughter of Brack and Vira (BOLTZ) PEARSON. She was born near Bloomfield, Indiana, June 11, 1900, and passed away Saturday afternoon, October 17, 1936, at Linton hospital. Bonnie had been in failing health for several months, but she bore her suffering patiently and greeted all her friends and loved ones with a smile. All that human aid could do was of no avail. Her mission on this earth was filled at the age of thirty-six years, four months and six days. She was united in marriage to Glenn CHANEY November 6, 1916. To this union two children were born, Georgia Irene and Marvin Eugene, who preceded her fifteen years ago at the age of five days. She was also preceded by her father and one brother. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior nine years ago under the pastorate of Rev. J. S. RANDLE, and had lived a consecrated Christian life in His service until she fell asleep in Jesus, a peaceful rest never to awaken in this world. She left her pretty country home Friday evening, October 9, to go to the hospital, and expressed as she walked out to the car her faith in her Savior to take her through. She said she knew her own strength was weak, but she was trusting in One whose grace was sufficient. She trusted Him to the end. Just a few minutes before her going she looked at her husband and smiled and tried to sing, and told Sister a short time before she had never been too sick to pray. She’s gone from her home here to enter the mansion Jesus said he had gone to prepare for His children. Bonnie never became a member of any denomination, but at the time of her going she was teacher of the young people’s class. She served as Sunday school superintendent, and vice-president of the Missionary Society the past two years, of the Tulip church, and was as devoted to the church as any member, but she felt it most important that her name be written in The Lambs Book of Life. She was present at all church services as long as her health permitted She taught her class Sunday, June 14, for the last time. She wrote all her plans for her funeral and one request was for her class to act as pallbearers and flower girls. Her greatest desire was to teach these young boys and girls to live a life of usefulness and accept Jesus as their personal Savior. Those left to mourn her departure include the husband and daughter, Georgia; mother, Mrs. Lowell LONG, of Dover Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie SPARKS and Mrs. Adrien SLOUGH, and one grandmother, Mrs. Eliza BOLTZ, all of Bloomfield, besides a host of relatives and friends. The home is lonely, and she will be sadly missed by Glenn and Georgia. She always kept a clear, comfortable home to greet them on return from their day’s work. May the Lord fill the vacancy, and comfort them in their lonely hours, although she can’t come to them, they can go to meet her. Her mother, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends will miss coming to Bonnie’s for she was happiest when she could entertain visitors in her home. She was ever planning to entertain young folks and help to spread a little sunshine in their hearts and lives. Grandma won’t see Bonnie coming with her basket with good things to eat she prepared and wanted to share with Grandma. A devoted wife, kind mother, loving daughter and affectionate sister, true neighbor and friend has paid the debt we all must pay. May we all prepare our hearts and live devoted Christian lives so when we come to the end of the way we can say as Bonnie, “All is well with my soul,” and pattern after this beautiful Christian character. “She was too pure for this cold earth, too beautiful to stay; and so God’s holy angles bore our darling Bonnie away. You’ll not be forgotten, Bonnie dear; no, never shall you be, as long as life and memory lasts, we shall remember thee.”
