Bio

Caroline 'Carrie' Ann McTigue was born on December 31, 1859 in Santa Rosa, California. Her father John McTigue b1830 was 29 and her mother Mary was just 21. At the age of 10 she was living in San Francisco, Calif. By 1875 the family had moved to Storey Co, Nevada. At the age of 25 she was living in Los Angeles. She married George Washington Stephan about June 1889. They had eight children in the 12 years between 1890 and 1902. Apparently they had two residences in 1910 as Carrie is listed in the City Directory for Los Angeles as well. After George's death in 1911 up in Hemet, Calif where they had 0range Groves, she listed as a teacher in San Bernardino up thru 1920. She apparently managed an Apt Building in South Gate near Los Angeles in 1930 with three of her children, Hulda ,Leo & married son Walter living with her. Two of those son's are listed below as shown. She passed away on January 17, 1937 in South Gate, California at the age of 77.
