LaGean Adamson Thurgood 1920- 2013 Early Life: LaGean was born December 11, 1920, in Provo, Utah, to Fred Augustus and Rhea Ellender Stubbs Adamson. She received her education in Provo City schools and at Brigham Young University. Life's Work | Service | Interests: On November 6, 1942, LaGean married her high school sweetheart, Jack J. Thurgood, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ living a life focused on becoming more like Him. She blessed the lives of many through small and simple acts of love, preparing delicious meals and helping those in need right up to the time of passing. Her optimistic attitude brightened the lives of many others. No one was more blessed by her service and love than her dear husband, Jack. Her hard work was an example to all, and she found great joy and peace growing beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and tennis; playing until she was 89. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaGean served in many auxiliaries and presidencies with cheerfulness and gratitude. She loved her family, serving them with love and joy and considered this her most important calling. At various times, she worked as a secretary and during World War II, served at the National American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Later, she worked for 15 years, as an administrative assistant in University Relations at BYU and retired from this position in 1980.
