MRS. S. A. GILLEY, 88, CLAIMED BY DEATH......Martha Elledge Gilley, member of one of the county's prominent pioneer families and wife of S. A. Gilley, died at her home in the 7th district of this county on Monday, Feb. 12, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 6 days after a lingering illness of several months. Mrs. Gilley was a member of the Church of Christ and was well known as one of the outstanding women of the community, being a highly respected Christian woman, and was loved by all who knew her. She and her husband have drawn many close friends during their married lives and were united in matrimony in 1870. They reared a family highly respected by everyone. Mrs. Gilley's passing is a sad thought, but she has gone to her reward with God. Surviving her is her husband, S. A. Gilley, three sons, Bob and Shelah Gilley of Marten, Texas, two daughters, Mrs. T. H. Young of this county and Mrs. A. L. Carnahan of Murfreesboro, with a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Woodbury, Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock by Prof. Rex C. Turman with interment in Riverside Cemetery with McMillen & Co.
