Bio

GLADYS M. DUNCAN, age 84, a resident of Irving since 1960, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at a local care center. Born June 6, 1929 in Singer, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Shelby and Rosetta Burgess Ashworth. She married Rev. D. E. "Pete" Duncan October 1, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas. He preceded her in death October 10, 2002. She retired from Texas Instruments after 26 years of service, and later sold Mary Kay cosmetics and scented candles. Preceded in death also by a daughter Barbara Macon, October 9, 2012, she is survived by a son Glen Duncan and his wife Terri of Alvarado; a daughter Kay Duncan of Irving; a son-in-law, Mark Macon of Irving; six grandchildren, Angie Tyree, Julie Barber, Glenda Gardner, Linda Wood, Mason Duncan and Melissa Tassin; eleven great grandchildren; and a brother Murphy Ashworth and his wife Judy of DeRidder, Louisiana. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at Lakewood Baptist Church, 1705 Esters Road in Irving. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Rocky Creek Cemetery near Brownwood.
