Alvin A. Kauitzsch died Sept. 8 in Hamilton. He was 86. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Riney Jordan officiating. Burial followed in Live Oak Cemetery. Mr. Kauitzsch was born in Pottsville July 6, 1919 to Adolph G. and Ida Wagner Kauitzsch. In 1942 he was living in the Ireland community when he entered the Army Air Force. He served in Pearl Harbor and in the battle of Luzon in the Philippines. He earned the American Theater Ribbon, Asisatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He worked in the ASCS office in Hamilton for 30 years prior to retirement. He was elected and served two terms as Hamilton tax assessor and collector. He served as post commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4148 in Hamilton. He married Grace Marie Brown on Aug. 31, 1939 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Raymond Kauitzsch. Survivors include children, Joy Streater of New Braunfels, Dona Kindle of Hamilton and Alvarie Sample of Hillsboro; sister, Nelda Hlvarty of West; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
