PEGGY "HATTIE" DEITERMAN passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 10, 2004, in Sacramento, California. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was 93. Born Hermina Lenart on December 30, 1910, in West, Texas. Mrs. Deiterman was the first of seven children born to her parents, Angela Kadlubar Lenart and Carol "Charlie" Lenart. In 1934 she married Albert Clement Deiterman, and later had two cherished daughters. The family lived in Waco, Texas, for many years. In 1957, Albert and Peggy moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, when his employer, the Santa Fe Railroad, promoted him. In 1962 they moved to Rialto, California, where Peggy belonged to St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening and keeping a nice home. Those who knew Peggy fondly remember her unique and contagious laugh. After her husband's death in 1981, she took driving lessons and eventually earned her driver's license at age 70. In 2001 she moved to Sacramento to be closer to her family. A memorial Mass was held on August 14 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Rancho Cordova, California. Interment in Rialto City Cemetery will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31. In addition to her husband, Peggy was preceded in death by her younger daughter, Gloria Wittmann, in 1987. She is greatly missed by her survivors, who include her daughter, Jo Ann Williams of Sacramento; her sister, Angeline Dudley of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
