Bio

He was born in Dallas, Texas, the eldest of five children of Louis and Marie Mrkyvka Toberny. Louis graduated from Crozier Tech High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corps October 6, 1941. During WWII, where he was an aviation metal smith, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He served in the Pacific Theatre in Okinawa and was discharged from both the Army and Navy at Camp McCoy, Wisc. Louis married Maybelle "Tip" Strangle of Ashland, Wisc. in 1943, where they lived for several years. They had one son, Daniel W. "Toby" Toberny and relocated to Texas in 1949, where he worked for the Dallas Transit Co., the Joe Hoppe Co., Charlie Norrell Sheet metal and retired from Siemen's Electric in 1985. Louis and Tip loved to dance competitively and won many trophies over the years. Following Tip's death in 1986 he married Jimmie Blackwell. They enjoyed more than 25 years of dancing together, often traveling out of state to dance to their favorite big bands. Louis embraced Jimmie and her family, son, Mike and daughter, Jennifer and her children. Louis was quiet, thoughtful, liked playing dominoes, baking cookies and working crossword puzzles in INK. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie; son, Daniel "Toby" and his wife, Carol; stepson, Mike Blackwell; stepdaughter, Jennifer Ismail and her children, Fayfouz, Talal and Sarah. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
