Horton, 88, of 3500 Park Street will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today at the Sorrells and Sons Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Cope and Dr. James L. Sandlin officiating. Horton died Thursday at 6:45 p.m. in a Greenville Nursing home and will be buried in Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Little, Caroll Little, G.C. Harris, Jack Horton, Frank Rought and Paul Horton. Horton was born on Sept. 24, 1886 in Greenville the son of John and Syble Barling Horton. He married Bessie L. Little on Sept. 14, 1906 in Greenville. She preceeded him in death. He was a member of the Central Christian church and of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and worked for 40 years as circulation manager for the Greenville Evening Banner. He owned the cab company in Greenville at one time and before retirment he was a farmer and a stockman. Survivors are one son, Hilton Horton of Canton, Ohio, two daughters, Mr. W.Bruce 'Mary' Irwin and Mrs. W.T. 'Ann' George both of Greenville, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
