Bio

Mr Charles Foster Smith, Jr. was born June 13, 1924 in Harleton to the late Chesley Foster Smith, Sr. and Etta Florence Oney Smith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, devoted father and papa. He graduated Salutorian from Harlton schools, was a member of the original football team, and loved going to homecoming as an honoree. CF was an active member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for many years and enjoyed the Rebeccas with his wife and soulmate Lois. He retired from Suburban Propane after many years. C.F. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He is survived by his daughter, Toni, son-in-law Bert Sharp, of Longview; his son, Jeff Smith, and daughter-in-law, Tina, of Rapid City, South Dakota; step-daughters Geneva Busby of Baytown and Beverly Carter of Keller and step-son Charles Wood of Meridian, Mississippi; grandchildren, Brent Sharp, of Harleton,Nathan Sharp and Corey Smith of Longview, Chesley Smith of Gilmer and great grand child Lucy Lynn, and a number of loving nieces and nephews. Mr Smith was preceded in death by his parents;wife,Lois;daughter, Mary Ann Hall; sisters, Verna Mae Owens and MarieWheeler; and brother James Smith. --Downs Funeral Home, Marshall, TX
