Bio

Alice Marilda Bardin Williams was the youngest child of Jesse James Bardin and Abigail Smith. Her grandfather was Abner Smith, one of the first Primitive Baptist Ministers to come to Texas in 1832. Later, her mother and her second husband, Cummings Burleson, would be one of the founders of the Valley Spring, Texas Primitive Baptist Church. She married John Washington Williams and together they had 12 children: Mary Abigail Williams Walker, who married Charlie Walker, Jesse Edward Williams, who married Bertie Bolton, Otly Cleo Williams Daugherty, who married Stimpson Daugherty, Mable Ernestine Williams Forehand, who married Novie Forehand, Clarence Lovell Williams, Lester Vernon Williams, Katie Elizabeth Williams Keng, who married Frederick Keng, James Frances Williams, who married Lyda Castellaw, David Andrew Williams, who married Beulah Lucille Carmichael, Faye Marie Williams, who married Adrian Griffin, Annie Ruth Williams, who married Clarence H. Shook, and Arthur Cleveland, who married Lottie. Marilda died in Brownwood, Texas in 1938. She was survived by her husband and 10 living children. They had a total of 28 grandchildren. They are buried together in Kuykendall Cemetery, in Cherokee, Texas, beside their two sons, Lester and Clarence. They left behind a beautiful legacy of christian example and love. They would be very proud of their descendants.
