Bio

Arthur Rasmussen, 87, of Valentine, NE, and long time area rancher died September 29, 1981 at Pineview Good Samaritan Home, Valentine, NE. Rasmussen was born November 16, 1893 at Plankinton, SD to Rasmus and Mary Rasmussen. In 1907, he moved to Murdo, SD, with his parents who homesteaded five miles south of town. In 1915, he homesteaded on his own ranch northwest of White River. He married Lizzie Krogman June 1919 at St. Francis, SD. The Rasmussen Family moved to Springview, NE in 1939 to a ranch they had purchased. Rasmussen retired in 1963 and moved to California and lived there until 1978 when they returned to Nebraska. He is survived by his widow, Lizzie; four sons, Vernon, San Pablo, Calif.; LeRoy, Healdsburg, Calif.; Louie, Petaluma, Calif.; Leonard, Vacaville, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Margaret) Nims, Washington; Mrs. Garth (Doris) Carr, Springview, Neb.; and a sister, Julia Lewis, of Atkinson, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Clara, four grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister. Also surviving him are a brother, Mike Rasmussen, of Whittier, Calif.
