Hastings resident, Melvin G. Martin, 92, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Health Care, Hastings, Nebraska. Melvin was born January 23, 1921 to Melvin and Dora (Spears) Martin in Rulo, Nebraska. Melvin and his lifelong partner of over 35 years, Agatha "Maggie" McCoy traveled most of their years to most of the United States. They enjoyed going to casinos and especially going to their "secret asparagus garden." Mel had a very warm nature and enjoyed visiting with his family and friends until "his hard of hearing" years. Melvin is survived by: son, Marvin Uden; sister, Bonnie Pavelka, both of Hastings, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Melvin was preceded in death by: parents; son, Ron Uden; daughter, Carol Wallin, and his lifelong companion, Agatha "Maggie" McCoy and special friend Betty Hoover; sisters, Hazel Ransom, Beulah Thaut and Virginia Fitch and brother, Mike Martin. Graveside services were at the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska.
