Betty Jane (Theesen) Hoover, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, in Hastings, Nebraska. Betty was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Glenvil to Okkel O. and Tjeda "Kate" (Gronewold) Theesen. Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Dana Hoover of Redmond, Oregon; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Gunner Riley of Fremont, Nebraska and Marjorie Evans of Grand Island, Nebraska; special friend, Mel Martins of Hastings, Nebraska; 27 grandchildren, Theresa Evans of Grand Island, Nebraska, David Evans of Lincoln, Nebraska, Angie Backens of Fremont, Nebraska, Nick Riley of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jody Sheperd of Fremont, Nebraska, Paul Whitbeck of Davenport, Iowa, Renee Wright of Moline, Iowa, Jessica Roberts of Moline, Iowa, Chris Blomberg of Wolbach, Nebraska and Lisa Blomberg of Columbus, Nebraska; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friemds. Betty grew up in Glenvil, Nebraska graduating from Glenvil (NE.) High School with the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Donald S. Hoover on April 1, 1949, in Glenvil, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Hastings, Nebraska where she worked as a waitress. In 1957, they moved to Tuscon, Arizona, until 1961 when they returned to Grand Island, Nebraska to make their home. While in Grand Island, Betty worked at Dreisbach's, Bosselman Eaton Truck Plaza and for 24 years at the I-80 Holiday Inn until her retirement in 1995. Betty was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Donald S. Hoover; daughter, Pamela Roberts; sons, Larry, Gary and Berdon Hoover; grandchildren, Kimberly Evans and Dannie Evans; brothers, Orval and Lester Theesen and sisters, Mildred Wilson and Caroline Young. Memorial graveside services were at Grand Island City Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.
