Bio

Katherine Gavin was born September 27, 1884, at Willow Lake. She married Wilson Bergstreser at Willow Lake, in the new St. James Church, on January 10, 1906. In 1910 Wilson Bergstresers moved to Faith and proved their homestead claim in a sod shanty. The drought caused them to sell the claim and move to Bancroft in 1914. In Bancroft, Wilson operated a meat market. In 1918, they moved back to Willow Lake where Katherine lived there until 1942. While living in Willow Lake, Katherine was Chancellor of the Willow Lake Royal Neighbor lodge in 1930. When she moved to Watertown to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Dvorak. Mrs. Bergstreser was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Bergstreser, who died in 1933. Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Caroline) Dirksen of Conde, Mrs. Nellie Dvorak of Watertown, and Mrs. Clarence (Bertha) Quill of Grand Junction, Colorado, two sons George of Watertown, and James of Los Angeles. One sister W. W. (Rosie) Erbes, and one brother James Gavin of Watertown.
