Bio
Gruntorad, Doriene E. (Adkins)was born January 31, 1935 in North Platte, NE to Oda and Margurite Adkins. She grew up in Authur and Overton, NE. Doriene graduated with honors with a Masters in Education at Arizona State University. She also pursued her Ph.D in Education. Doriene and Donald were married 57 years and Donald was the love of her life. They enjoyed visiting family and friends, traveling, riding horses, building a cabin and two homes. She was an avid reader, life long learner, and an accomplished pianist. She was surrounded by her loving dogs throughout her life. Doriene touched many children's lives in her 28 years of teaching elementary age students. Her love of children was ever present in her life and she showered her many students with her love of learning as did her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Doriene was surrounded by family and friends as she peacefully passed away at home in Gilbert, AZ on August 27, 2013. Survivors include her husband, Donald Gruntorad; daughters, Donna Lucchesi (Rick), Debra Brewer (Roger), and Lori Gould (Lowell). Her grandchildren: Dustin Lucchesi (Julie), Aaron Lucchesi (Casey), Crystal Lucchesi, Tyler Garr, and Hunter Gould. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Austin, Brooklyn, and Alexandra. Her brother, Keith Adkins (Lynn), her brother-in-law, Ervin Gruntorad, and sister-in-laws, Kathryn (Gruntorad) Lessig (Don), Karen (Anthony) Gruntorad, Luanne (Steib) Gruntorad and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
