Mrs. Hayes Taken By Death ___________ Short Illness is Fatal to County Woman ___________ Mrs. Anna Smith Hayes , 71, died at her home on Vincennes route 3 Thursday morning at 3:30 after a three days illness. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Mrs. Hays was a life-long resident of Knox County. She was the daughter of the late John and Christina Nowaski Otten. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church. Surviving are the husband, Haller Hayes, and the following children: Joseph Frederick of Vincennes, John Frederick of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Nellie Evans of route 3, Robert Frederick of Vincennes, Arthur Frederick of Lawrenceville, and Henry Smith of Pontiac, Mich. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two half-brothers Joe Nowaski and John Nowaski, and two half-sisters, Mrs Mary DeLisle and Mrs. Frederick Thomas. The body will be returned to the home of her son, Robert Frederick, 1023 North Fourteenth street Friday morning. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed. ______________________________________________________________ Children with Robert Henry Smith: Margaline Smith 1913 – Henry Edward "Hank" Smith 1916 – 1992 No children with Haller Hayes; they married in senior life.
