SN US NAVY KOREA U.S. Obituary Collection -- LUMIR MALY Lumir L. "Hawkeye" Maly, 74, of Weston died Tuesday, Dec 30, 2003, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln. Maly was born Nov. 15, 1929, in rural Weston. He attended District 76 School in rural Weston and graduated from Weston High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War. He entered active duty on March 10, 1952, in Lincoln. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman on Dec. 24, 1953, at Moffett Field, Calif. In addition to farming, he also worked for the Weston Public Schools as a bus driver and janitor for many years. He was a salesman for Dekalb Seed for 30 years. He married Dolores Pospisil on Oct 22, 1955, in Plasi. He loved his family and many friends. He enjoyed farming, hunting and baseball. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. He was a 50-year member and past commander of American Legion Post 308 in Weston. He also was a member of the Touhy Coyote Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Helen Maly. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston with the Rev. Rand Langhorst officiating. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo and continues one hour before both services at the church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Weston with military rites and presentation of the United States Flag by American Legion Post 308.
