Corvallis Gazette-Times (Corvallis, Oregon) 19 Nov 1974, Tue Page 8 Obituaries Havelka Private services for Josie (Hoskovec) Havelka, 84, tentatively are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Oaklawn Cemetery mausoleum. Mrs. Havelka died Saturday in a Corvallis nursing home. She was born Oct. 18, 1890, to Josef and Josepha (Jukl) Hoskovec at Ledec, Czechoslovakia. She and her parents came to America in 1903 following the earlier immigration of older brothers and sisters. The family settled in Bruno, Neb. As a teenager, Mrs. Havelka was an active member of the Sokols gymnastic group. She was married to James W. Havelka on Nov. 24, 1913, and they farmed at Brainard, Neb. Weston, and Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa. On Feb. 17, 1920, the couple became citizens of the United States. Mrs. Havelka's husband died in 1932. Surviving are a son, Milo J. Havelka of Corvallis and a daughter, Mrs. Vlasta H. Matuszak of Corvallis. Another son, Lodie O. Havelka, died in May 1973. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
