Born in the town of Ledec, county of Caslav, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Married Josefa Jakl. Passenger list for the ship Pennsylvania , which left Hamburg, Germany on May 9, 1903 and arrived in New York City on May 21: Josef Hoskovec (age 53) ,Josefa (44), daughters Anna (21) and Josie (11). Their last residence was Ledec, Austria and their final destination was Omaha, Nebr., where they planned to join a son-in-law, Franz Svoboda at 1261 16th St. 1910 census (Bruno, Butler County, Nebr.): Joseph Hoskovec (age 73, born Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1893, laborer odd jobs), Josephine (wife, 67, Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1893, married 47 years, mother of 10 children, seven living), Charles (son, Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1890, blacksmith own shop), Bessie (daughter, 30, Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1893. dressmaker), Josie (daughter, 18, Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1893, servant), and Teresie (granddaughter, 17, Aust-Bohemia, immigrated 1907). Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Zalud on Thursday, March 28. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Hoskovec is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of one son, Frank, who was unable to get here before the funeral. __ Mrs. Joseph Pecha, of Millard, attended the funeral of her father, Joseph Hoskovec, here on Thursday.
