Born "Ellev Andersen Berge" on 18 Dec 1845 at Holt, Norway. Civil War: Enlisted for one year on 10 Mar 1862 at Prairieville, Texas. Private. Served until his Regiment surrendered on 23 Jun 1865. Civil War: Enlisted for one year on 10 Feb 1862 at Tyler, Texas. Private. Transferred on 22 May 1863 to the 4th Texas Field Battery, also known as the Van Dorn Light Artillery, previously called Mechling's-Haldeman's Texas Battery. Absent on detached service at Taylor Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana, from 28 May 1863 until the end of the war. Discharged 15 Aug 1862. Later he became a Private in TX 1st Cav Co F, enlisting on 27 Jun 186? at Smith County. Died 24 Aug 1865 at Tyler, Texas. He was a Confederate soldier in Company I, 11th Texas Infantry. He came to Tyler with his family in 1856, and was one of the oldest merchants in Tyler. Mr. Albertson was in business continously for nearly 50 years. He was in the merchantile business with his brother Thomas. Mr. Albertson died on September 12, 1915, at the age of 69. He had been in ill health for several weeks, having suffered from a stroke. He was survived by his widow, the former Ellen Halverson, whom he married in 1868; and seven children: Otto and Harry Albertson, Misses Fannie and Annie Albertson; Mrs. E.M. Holtzclaw; Orelia Blackburn, all of Tyler; and Mrs. C.M. Moore, Clifton, Texas. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Emmigrated to America and settled in Tyler, Texas, August 1, 1858. Enlisted in company C, 20th Texas cavalry in 1862, and was with his command until the surrender in 1865, being always ready for duty as a soldier during the. campaigns in which his regiment participated. On Nov. 19, 1868, he was married to Miss Ellen Halverson, of Prairieville, Kaufman county, Texas.
