Mrs. Mary Schuelke, 87, of Havelock, who died January 23, was buried in the Greenwood cemetery last week, Monday January 26, after services held at Rogers & Sons Havelock Chapel. The Reverend Leslie Lewis of the Wesley Methodist church was in charge. Clarence Meister sang "In the Garden," and "Beyond the Sunset." Rachel Reichwein was organist. Pall bearers were Harvey, William, and Everett Heier, and Fred, Clarence, and William Schuelke. Mary, daughter of Aaron and Bertha Gerdes, was born in North Friedland, Germany, April 10, 1871. At the age of ten, she came to Nebraska with her parents. They made their home near Murdock, and she was a member of the Callahan Evangelical church. She married Charles Schuelke, February 11, 1891. They made their home on a farm southeast of Greenwood. After Mr. Schuelke's death in 1936, Mrs. Schuelke remained there until 1940, when she moved to Havelock. Mrs. Schuelke is survived by six children: Ervin of Waverly; Edward of Eagle; Virgil of Alvo; Mrs. Wilma Rogers of Ashland; Mrs. Ruth Parrott of Ashland; and Mrs. Irene Haynes of Los Angeles. [She is also survived by] one brother, John Gerdes, of Lincoln; and by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
