Joe Wagner SANTA FE -Mr. Joe Wagner passed from this life Wednesday evening, March 13, 2002, in Webster. Born December 10, 1919, in Plantersville, Texas, Mr. Wagner had been a home builder for 28 years before retiring in 1975. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in France and Germany, having been shot down and held as a prisoner of war in Germany for over a year. After his discharge, he worked with the CCC for a year in New Mexico and Colorado. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Santa Fe Senior Citizens, VFW Post 5400, Santa Fe 42 Club and the Good SAMS Club 'Go Slow' Chapter. Preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Katie Wagner and brothers, Mike and Jack Wagner, survivors include his wife of 60 years, Chris Wagner; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Josephine Wagner of Santa Fe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vema Morse of Conroe, Barbara and George Shead of Santa Fe, Mary and E.T. Shead of Navasota and Eugenia Johnson of Houston. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Deacon Jim Bonura officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Lowell Abel, Bob Bauer, Don Rowe, Danny Wagner, Davy Wagner and Jerry Wagner. Honorary bearers will be Jesse Covington and John Wright. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Texas Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. Vigil services will begin at 7 p.m. Friday with Sister Mary Anne Hollmann officiating.
