Arlee G. Lockhart Arlee G. Lockhart, 88, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at his residence. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Jake Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curtis Penney, J.D. Wright, Charles Kent, Robert Robinson, Ted Taylor and Frank Hignett. Mr. Lockhart was born May 19, 1914 in Emhouse to Garrett Alexander Lockhart and Birdie Rich Lockhart. During World War II, Mr. Lockhart was a crew chief at the Corsicana Air Field. He maintained PT-19s at the Corsicana Air Field and at the Galveston Air Field. After the war, he became manager of the Chapman Ranch, which later became the Taylor Ranch, from July 1947 until his death. He was a member of Fundamental Baptist Church of Corsicana and was a great student of Revelation. He taught Sunday school for 35 years and the last lesson he taught was Sunday, Jan. 19. He was a great story teller with a wonderful memory and a gift for presentation. He remembered the people he met and the places he visited and could present them with humor. He was a great and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed very much. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Sarah Lockhart of Corsicana; sons and daughters-in-law, Obie Lee and Joyce Lockhart of Kerens and Joe David and Susan Lockhart of Burleson; daughter, Gena Ruth Chandler of Corsicana; grandchildren, Mike Lockhart, Lynn Merrell, Janet Lockhart, Cole Taylor and Kirk Lockhart; great-grandchildren, Rachel Merrell, Kaitlyn Merrell, Garrett Lockhart and Lauren Lockhart; brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Marie Lockhart of Corsicana; and sister, Jewel Porch of Corsicana.
