Kizer died Wednesday, December 13, 1978 at the Burwell Community Memorial Hospital at the age of 90 years. Lester was born May 29, 1888 to Samuel J. and Eva L. Freel Kizer at Barada. In 1898, he traveled with his parents and two older sisters on an emigrant train as far as St. Edward where they spent the winter. In the spring, they traveled in a farm wagon to the Ericson community where Lester spent his youth and early manhood farming and ranching with his parents. He was united in marriage to Mary G. Dickinson on January 12, 1909; they had four children. Lester lived on a farm in Valley County for 32 years. He was united in marriage to Hattie Dworak Johnson on February 26, 1949. He moved to the Burwell Plaza to make his home in 1973 where he since resided. Survivors include one daughter, Lavina Larsen and husband, Clarence, of Burwell; two sons, Leonard and wife Dorthy, of Ericson and Wilber and wife, Amelia, of Burwell; daughter-In-law, Alberta Kizer of Tacoma, WA; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Hart of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1937; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Bernt and Mrs. Viola Baker; and one son, John, in 1967. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at 1:30 pm at the United Methodist Church in Burwell with Rev. Lester Hart officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup.
