JOHN N. SCHMITZ KILLED IN GERMANY JULY 11th Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Weale have received a letter from the former's cousin, Mrs. Eliza Schmitz of Sioux City, telling them of the death of her son, John N. Schmitz in Germany, July 11. The letter stated they had been notified August 4th that their son was killed in a vehicle accident. He was serving as a mechanic with the Army. The Schmitz family were former residents of Sutherland, having left here a number of years ago Mrs Schmitz still owns the building occupied by the M and M Ice Cream Store.
