Bio

Melvin was the son of Eva and Cleveland Klepper and grew up in Rosedale, McClain Co., OK, graduating from Rosedale High School. He married Mildred Sue Sullivan, July 24, 1943. Drafted to semi-pro baseball play, he returned home to run the family gas station for his newly-widowed mother. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, World War II; and as a member of the Navy semi-pro baseball team. After military service, he served as Commander of the American Legion Post, Lexington. He owned grocery stores in Lexington and Ada; a dairy in Ada; owner-operator semi-truck fleet; Oklahoma Publishing Company truck driver; car salesman, and co-owned M&M Klepper Real Estate in Purcell. His parents, three brothers, Finis, Haskell, and Douglas; and a sister, Movelda Klepper Blackwell, preceded his passing. Survivors are his wife, 2 sons, granddaughter,3 grandsons, and 2 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Klepper III, Tommy Klepper Jr., Michael Klepper, Tommy Michael Sullivan, Scott Sullivan and Rob Helleland.Honorary pallbearers were G.D. Peters Jr., Jerry Green, Glen Warner, Tom McCurdy, Dennis Yoakum, Earl Rose and Glen Klepper.
