Bio

The Rev. Robert George Davenport, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Clifton Funeral Home. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, at the Clifton Funeral Home with Brother Charlie Callee officiating. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. in Laurel Oaks Memorial Parks in Mesquite. Davenport was born in Weatherford, Texas, to the late George Forest Davenport and Lillian Bernice (Trotter) Davenport. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific before returning to the United States, where he raised his family and worked as a truck driver in Dallas for many years. He surrendered to the ministry in 1972, and later moved to Laguna Park. Robert was instrumental in the building of Rehoboth Full Gospel Church in Clifton in 1979, and ministered there until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 26 years, Faye Campbell Davenport; second wife, of 25 years, Thelma Davenport; two brothers; one sister, and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Jane Davenport, of Laguna Park; daughter, Annette Carbajal and husband, Miguel, of Waco; son, Rob Davenport and wife, Lisa, of Denver; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
