Bio
William E. (Bill) Blair, Jr., age 73, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007 in Ukiah, CA. He was born November 9, 1933 in Happy Camp, CA. to Edith and William E. Blair, Sr. He spent his early childhood in Superior, Arizona until the family moved to Ukiah in 1945. Bill graduated from Ukiah High School in 1951. He served three years in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea, Okinawa and Yuma, AZ. Bill worked for Masonite for a time and in sales before he became a Psychiatric Technician at Mendocino State Hospital in Talmage in 1963. In 1971 when this Hospital was in the process of closing, Bill transferred to Sonoma State Hospital and two years later he was living in Napa where he worked at Napa State Hospital until he retired in 1990. He returned to Ukiah in 1998 where he lived for the past eight years. Bill was a fun loving guy for much of his adult years; always living life as he chose until ill health took its toll during the past six or seven years. He was always respected by his co-workers and was very good with the hospital patients, they knew that he truly cared about them. Bill is survived by his sister Ruth Miller, brother-in-law Al Miller, sister Barbara Pittman and brother-in-law Chuck Pittman all of Ukiah; daughters Vickie Lynn Hess of Eagle, Idaho and Torie Blair Clay of Lakeport; sons David A. Blair of Oroville and Bruce E. Blair; six grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews and 14 grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Edith Tierney Blair in 1969 and his father William E. (Ed) Blair, Sr. in 1984. A private family service was held at a later date.
