Bio

Gladys Irene Atkins was born November 20, 1916, in Shannon county, MO, to Bill*** Goforth and Cynthia Flourinda (Herron) Goforth. She passed away September 13, 2001, at the St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View at the age of 84 years She was united in marriage to Claude "Buck" Atkins who preceded her in death on January 13, 1995. Gladys is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharren Kay; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Stearns of West Plains, MO, Patsy Sigler of Joplin, MO, Wanda Wakefield of Winona, MO, and Beverly Hollis of Winona, MO; thirteen grand children and one brother, Roy LaVaughn Goforth of Fenton, MO. Gladys will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 1 PM Saturday, September 15, 2001, at Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona with Rev. Glenn Hampton officiating. Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona. ***Bill was Henry's brother. Henry Alfred Goforth was the Goforth married to Cynthia Herrin/Herron.
