Arthur ''Wayne'' Manning, 75, of Argenta died 4:50 p.m. Friday (Jan. 24, 1997) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Mr. Manning was born in Henton on Oct. 17, 1921, the son of Edward and Etna Pea Manning. Wayne and Maxine formerly owned and operated the Manning Grocery Store and Cafe. He retired from Argenta/Oreana School District and was a World War II Army veteran. He served as a precinct committeeman and was a trustee of Friends Creek Township. He married Maxine Edwards Aug. 27, 1942. Surviving are his wife; children, Shirley J. Wallace and husband Richard of Argenta; Robert D. and wife Peggy of Argenta; David L. ''Squeak'' and wife Diana of Argenta; Susie Krutsinger and husband Max of Mount Zion; Dan Manning and wife Sally of Decatur; Jane Manning Tipton of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Lucas and husband Joe of Decatur; Mary ''Midge'' Mackey of Milwaukie, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry ''Ike'', brother, Herbert and three grandchildren. Herald & Review (Decatur, IL) - Monday, January 27, 1997
