Suggested edit: Imogene L. Abbott, 82, of Kansas City, formerly St. Joseph, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital North in Kansas City. Mrs. Abbott was born July 21, 1922 in Conception, Mo., to Raymond and Zelma (Crumb) Blanton. She married Benjamin B. Abbott Sr. of St. Joseph on Sept. 7, 1945. He died Sept. 23, 2002. Survivors include three sons, Mike Abbott of Kansas City, Terry Abbott of Florida and Gary Abbott of Idaho; four daughters, Barbara Hufford of Independence, Mo.; Pat Knight of Grandview, Mo.; Kathy Shirley of Kansas City and Sherry Helmich of Wichita, Kan.; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Abbott and Benjamin B. Abbott Jr.; and a sister who died in infancy, Carolyn Abbott. Mrs. Abbott was a homemaker. She lived in St. Joseph and Richmond, Mo., areas before moving to Kansas City 1-1/2 years ago. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Memorial Fund. The funeral service will be Friday, May 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. There will be no family visitation. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo., where the graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 27.
