Bio

A two-vehicle traffic accident at an intersection one mile west of Howells on old Highway 91 claimed the lives of two local youths. Losing his life at the scene was car driver, Thomas L. Smejkal, 17, a senior at Howells High and dying the next day at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, was truck driver, Allen R. Faltys, 19, a 1971 graduate of Howells High School. Funeral services for Allen were held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Leo Kreikemeier officiated. Allen Richard Faltys, son of John and Gladyce (Jakub) Faltys was born April 8, 1953. Survivors include his parents; two sisters; Mrs. Wayne (Rosemary) Bos and Mrs. Richard (Kathryn) Stouffer, one brother Francis (sister-in-law Lyra). Five nieces and four nephews; Correne, Jolene, Christopher and Brian Bos, Michael, Gary, and Lucinda Faltys, Renee and Paula Stouffer, all of Howells. Allen was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, James and John, grandparents; James and Mary Vidlak, John A. and Sophie Faltys.
