Bio

Unmarked grave. Frank Bartu February 18, 1930, occurred the death of Frank Bartu, who at the time of his death was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Vaclav Urban, near Friend. He was one of the very early pioneers of this vicinity, coming here more than fifty-eight years ago. With his family, he owned and operated a farm east of Milligan which is now owned by Vaclav Betka. His wife passed away twenty-seven years ago, her death occurring on the anniversary date of the funeral of the deceased. He was a mild mannered man and not of an aggressive type so that he did not succeed in accumulating as much of the world's goods as he might have done, but he had the respect of his neighbors, and his wants and needs being meager, he lived a contented life and passed away as quietly as he had lived. The deceased was born in Radlice, Moravia, October 4, 1848. He died at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 14 days. The body was interred in the west cemetery beside his wife Thursday. He was a member of Rd Rabi, Z.C.B.J., and had been a member of this organization since its foundation. The decease leaves surviving him one daughter Frances Urban, and four sons, Joseph, Fred, Frank, and William, besides twelve grand children and three great-grandchildren.
