Mrs Joan Blanchard Montero, 65 MONTERO, JOAN BLANCHARD Times-Picayune, The (New Orleans, LA) - Thursday, March 29, 2001Joan Blanchard Montero, a lawyer, died Tuesday of complications from breast cancer at Memorial Medical Center. She was 65. Mrs. Montero was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 36 years. She was a graduate of Kenner High School, University of Southwestern Louisiana and Loyola University. She was a member of Phi Delta Phi sorority, was editor-in-chief of L'Acadian and a member of the USL Red Jackets. Mrs. Montero was a member of the Louisiana Breast Cancer Task Force, Jefferson Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, where she was a member of the House of Delegates, and the American Bar Association. She was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Society, New Orleans Association of Women Attorneys, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, where she was a member of the President's Advisory Council, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Montero Newhart of Marietta, Ga., and M. Suzanne Montero; a sister, Carol Blanchard Doescher of Donaldsonville; and three grandchildren. A Mass will be said Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 West Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories. Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
