(Southern Star, March 18, 1925)(sic) REMAINS OF BALL PLAYER'S WIFE SENT TO NEWTON The body of Mrs. Clarence Hodge, who died Wednesday in Birmingham passed through Montgomery Thursday en route to Newton, where funeral services and interment will take place sometime Friday. Mrs. Hodge, before her marriage, was Miss Ethel Haisten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.J. Haisten of Pinckard. Mr. Hodge is well known in Montgomery, having at one time been a member of the Montgomery club, when this city held a franchise in the Southern Atlantic League. Since that time He has played with Chicago, San Francisco, and at present is a member of the New Orleans club and with his wife, has often visited Montgomery. He has many friends who will learn with profound sorrow, of the death of his wife. Mrs. Hodge leaves her husband, one daughter, Vernon; father and mother and several sisters and brothers.
