Thanks to contributor #48796369 Carl Mieth, 92, of Rockville died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Congregational Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. Mr. Mieth was born on July 25, 1906, in Hall County to Fredrick and Eunice (Siberly) Mieth. He was educated at Bluff Center School. He married Iola Harris on Sept. 29, 1927, at Central City. The couple lived on a farm near Cairo, then moved to farms near Ravenna and Loup City before moving to a farm near Rockville in 1942. He operated a maintainer for Sherman County from 1962 to 1972. They moved to Rockville in 1966. Mr. Mieth was a member of the Rockville Fire Department and had served as the mayor of Rockville. Survivors include one son, Dewey Mieth of Rockville; one daughter, Shirley Lighthill of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson and one brother. The Grand Island Independent - February 3, 1999
