Bio

Philip Cyrus Kavan was born April 16, 1854 in the village of Blatnice, Moravia, now a part of Czechoslavakia. At the age of 18 he emigrated to the United States and settled near Linwood, Neb, where he homesteaded. He later sold the homestead to his father and bought 160 acres from the Union Pacific railroad near Valparaiso where he made his home until 1912 when he retired from farming and moved to Wahoo. For the past year he has lived at the home of his son, Dr W J Kavan of Clarkson, where he died at 2 am April 30, 1936. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Henry Anderson and Mrs J B Bartek of Wahoo and three sons, Louis of Valparaiso, Frank of Wahoo and W J . His wife died nine years ago. Funeral services were held at 10 am Thursday at the home of Mrs Anderson and at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church at Wahoo. Burial was in St Francis Catholic Church.
