Bio

When Ferdinand Emil Divis was born on October 18, 1887, in Brainard, Nebraska, his father, John, was 34 and his mother, Antonia, was 31. He married Bridget L. Fanning and they had three children together. Fred was a barber and Bridget was the telephone operator. After Bridget died he married Victoria Amelia Cidlik in 1957 in Nebraska. Fred had been sweet on Victoria when they were younger and had actually driven his wagon out to the family fields where she was working with her siblings. He wanted them to elope but Victoria was afraid of what her father would do if they did, so she refused to go with Fred then. It is amazing that they later wed, after all those years. He was quite the gardener and raised rat terriers at Victoria's house in Bee, Nebraska. He died on January 28, 1965, in Seward, Nebraska, at the age of 77, and was buried in Wahoo, Nebraska.
