The El Campo Leader - News October 19, 2005: "Norris Raun Norris Madsen Raun, 86, of El Campo, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005. He was born April 24, 1919 in Hahn to George Christian and Anna Henrietta Madsen Raun. Mr. Raun was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II where he served as 1st Lieutenant and bombardier instructor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former elder and usher for many years, El Campo Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, director emeritus of Commercial State Bank, Elks and Rice Belt Warehouse and former member of El Campo City Council where during his tenure the new city hall, fire department and police department were constructed. He was also a Master Mason and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Amelia "Sallie" Truitt Raun of El Campo; sons, Travis Raun and wife Cheryl Taylor Raun of Wharton and Richard Truitt Raun and wife Claudia of El Campo; nine grandchildren, Lisa Raun Green and husband David, Lance Raun and wife Kim, Laurie Raun Browning and husband Tommy, Lindsey Raun, Rebecca Raun, Amelia Raun Wernecke and husband Matt, Nathan Raun and wife Leslie, Truitt Raun and Madsen Raun; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Raun of El Campo; and sister, Bernice Wittig of El Campo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Effie Sharp; and brother, Lowell Raun. Visitation was Oct. 18 starting at noon at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Gould officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park with full military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251. Pallbearers are Lance Raun, Nathan Raun, Truitt Raun, Madsen Raun, David Green, Tommy Browning and Matt Wernecke. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Henderson, Charles Ellwood, Robert Williams Jr., Vic Bueltel, W.L. "Spot" Thornton and Leslie Collins. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Building Fund, P.O. Box 1001, El Campo, Texas 77437 or First Presbyterian Church, 312 Depot St., El Campo, Texas 77437. "
