Neda Beth BYRD WINGATE - Mrs. Melvin (Neda Beth) BYRD, 60, of Wingate, formerly of Abilene, was dead on arrival at 5:35 a.m. Monday at North Runnels Hospital in winters following a heart attack. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, U.S. Highway 277. The Rev. Charles L. MYERS, retired Hendrick Medical Center chaplain, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. D. J. BENNETT of South Side Baptist Church in Abilene. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Glen Cove, she graduated from Talpa High School and moved to Abilene in 1953 from Oklahoma City. She married Melvin BYRD Jan 8, 1955, in Abilene. He is former pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Abilene. They lived in Abilene until 1968. They lived in Abilene until 1968 and to Wingate in 1980 from Sweetwater. She was a homemaker and a member of South Side Baptist Church in Winters, where he husband is pastor. She preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Agnes KING, who died Jan. 3. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Judy SMITH of Route 8, Abilene, and Mrs. Jeanne TISCHLER of 1442 S. Third St., Abilene; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brian SMITH, both of Abilene; three brothers, Talmage KING of Zephry, James KING of Lawton, Okla., and Johnny KING of Houston; and three sisters, Mrs. Grace THOMPSON of Artesia, N.M., Mrs. Wanitta WILDER of Largo, Fla., and Mrs. Louise ERICKSON of Corpus Christi.
