Bio

Rosary service for Lebusha Huser, 88, of Lubbock, formerly of Slaton, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 15, in Englunds Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Hemp officiating. Resurrection Mass service will be Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Nicolas Rendon officiating. Interment will be in Slatons Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Lebusha died Friday, June 13, 2003 in Lubbock. She was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Seymour. She moved with her family to Brownfield in 1917 and then to Lynn County in 1919, where she attended Dixie School. She graduated from Tahoka High School in 1932 and Texas Tech University where she earned a teaching certificate. She returned to Dixie School and taught elementary school, later teaching at Slatons St. Joseph School, where she was the first lay teacher. Lebusha married Robert P. Huser on June 28, 1938, in Lubbock and they moved to Slaton in 1943. They were owners of Husers Hatchery until their retirement in 1976. Robert preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1979. She returned to Lubbock in November of 1993. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of America. Her survivors include a son, Vic Huser of Georgetown, Va.; a daughter, Sister Mary Robyn Huser, RSM, of Vicksburg, Miss.; a sister, Edith Macha of Lubbock; and two granddaughters, Gabriela and Melissa Huser.
