Rosary services for Irma M. Bednarz, 87, of Lubbock, formerly of Union, will be at 7 p.m. today in Englunds Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Hemp officiating. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Nicolas Rendon, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton. She died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. She was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Bomarton. She moved to the Brownfield area in 1917, the Dixie community in Lynn County in 1919, the Union community in 1948 and to Lubbock in 2002. She attended school at Dixie, graduated from Tahoka High School in 1934 and attended Texas Tech. She married Willie L. Bednarz on Nov. 23, 1937, in Lubbock. He died April 9, 2002. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Ladies Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Eugene and W.L. "Bill," both of Slaton; a daughter, Jeanette Hoover of Lubbock; two sisters, Lebusha Huser and Edith Macha, both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
