Mildred Rech age 93 of York, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Hearthstone in York. Mildred Arlene Rech was born April 7, 1920 at Osceola, NE to Charles and Anna Rech. She graduated from Osceola High School in 1937 and obtained a Normal Training Certificate. She taught Grades 1 through 8 for 5 years in rural school, attending Kearney College in the summers. Mildred then moved to Gary, Indiana where she managed a restaurant in the steel mills for forty years. In 1984, she retired and moved to York to be closer to family. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, Mary Circle, and the Order of the Eastern Star. In OES she held the Starpoint Electa for 17 years. She enjoyed her times with the York Fun Club and the Senior Center. Mildred was a lover of cats and birds and children always brought a smile to her. In May of 2011 she moved to York General Hearthstone and still loved to watch the birds outside her window. Her quick wit and sense of humor will long be remembered by all who were near her. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her brother and a niece. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Ann Hotovy of David City, NE and sister-in-law Betty Rech of York. She also has many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and nephews. It was Mildred's wish to be cremated with private inurnment services at Greenwood Cemetery, York at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in York. ************************************************************
