HEART TROUBLE CAUSES DEATH OF FRANK NOVAK, SR. ---------------------------------------------- Aged Ord Man, Ill Many Years, Passes in Kearney Hospital; Funeral held Saturday. ---------------------------------------------- After an illness of several years with heart trouble Frank John Novak, Sr., 66, respected farmer of this community, passed away at 3:45 p. m. last Wednesday in a hospital at Kearney, Neb., where he had been taken for treatment. He had been a resident of Valley county for almost a half century. Born Oct. 20, 1878 in Sedlcany, Czechoslavakia, the deceased came to the United States with his parents in 1883. The next year they settled on a farm fourteen miles west of Ord, which remained the family home of Mr. Novak throughout his lifetime. On November 12, 1899 he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Pokorney and to them were born seven children, six of whom survive. One daughter, Mrs. Mary Pesek, died several years ago. Those who are left to comfort their mother in her bereavement are Frank, Jr., of Geranium township, Mrs. Emma Janicek, of Burwell, Mrs. Agnes Krbel, of Sargent, Rose, Edward and Lillian, who are at home. He also leaves four grandchildren, one brother, James Novak, Deadwood, S. D., and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Childress, Denver, Colo., Miss Carrie Alexander, Chicago, and Mrs. Frances Matousek, Moreland, Nebr. One grandchild preceded him in death by only eleven days. Mr. Novak was long a member of the Z. C. B. J. Slavin lodge and this order assisted Rev. B. A. Filipi in the funeral services at the National hall at 1:30 p. m. Saturday. Pall-bearers included James Hrebec, Joe Holoum, John Mottl, Joe Skolil, Rudolph Krahulik and James Visek, all close friends and neighbors. Music was furnished by a Comstock quartet and pianist.
