CANYON — Louetta Caroline Kitten, 98, of Canyon, formerly of Slaton, died Friday, July 24, 2015. Rosary will be said 6:30 p.m. Monday in Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton lead by Father Joseph Palacios and Mark Meurer. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton with the Rev. Joseph Palacios as celebrant. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Louetta was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Slaton. She moved to Wilson with her family in the fall of 1922 and later graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1934. Louetta married Edmund H. Kitten on Sept. 1, 1936, in Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton. Louetta and Edmund were a farming family. They moved to Farwell in 1958 and continued farming. They returned to Slaton in 1973. Edmund preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1997. She moved to Canyon in June of 2009 to be closer to her family. Louetta was a multi-tasker by nature. She loved farm work and was a seamstress, artist, quilter, writer and caregiver. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Kahlich; and two brothers, Ralph and Roy Lynn Kahlich.
