Bio

Michael L. Stengel, a native of Boulder, died Friday evening in Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. Like his father, he farmed all of his in south Boulder and Valmont areas. He was born in south Boulder on January 14, 1896 and was married to the former Mary Schott December 31, 1919. The couple had four children, Charles of Valmont Rd., Mrs. Helen (Homer) Lynch of Longmont; Mrs. Anne (Tom) Sherwood of Lyons; and Mrs. Marie (Joe) Beauprez of Lafayette. After Mrs. Stengel's death January 3, 1953, he married Frances Andrus Martin on November 26, 1954. Mr. Stengel was a past master of Pleasant View Grange, a member of rural Boulder Fire department, also served on that board, and member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Besides his wife and four children, he leaves four step-sons and six sisters Mrs. Clara Clynck, Louisville, Mrs. Frank Haas, Gypsum, Mrs. Mary Dufield, Mrs. Barbara (George) Harris, Mrs. Jessie Oram and Mrs. Della Woodbury all of Boulder. One sister Mrs. Rose Gutfelder preceded him in death; twelve grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Approximately 60 relatives came from Iowa, Missouri and California to attend his services, among them was his daughter and son-in-law, Mr & Mrs H.M. Lynch and son Freddie from Grant City. Rosary was held Monday and Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Tuesday, June 8th. Services was conducted by Benedictine Fathers at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
