Mary Helen Cook Mary Helen Robinette Cook, 85, wife of the late Rev. Lloyd Cook, a former "Godparent" in the Thomas Road Church ministry, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2013. The Cooks worked for over 20 years as Godparents, helping Dr. Falwell build what was initially called the Save A Baby ministry. Prior to moving to Lynchburg, she lived and worked for the Jay Garment in Portland, IN. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Cook of Washington, D.C., Freeda Hara and her husband, Stan, of Rustburg and Phyllis Hall and her husband, Mike, of Moore, S.C.; one son, Phillip Cook and his wife, Dorothy, of Richmond; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Benham, KY, she was the daughter of Samuel and Ella Elizabeth Robinette. She was the eighth of fourteen children; all now deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. David Hara of Spokane, WA officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Amelia, VA. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
