Herring Funeral services for Ruby L. Herring of Greenville will be 2:30 p.m. today in the Dixon Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery. Mrs. Herring died Wednesday in the Briarcliff Health Center. She was born in Quitman County (sic) on Jan. 24, 1917, the daughter of Brad and Cynthia Overstreet Edwards. She married Kenneth Herring on Aug. 25, 1934, in Greenville. She was a member of the Lone Oak Chapter of Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Herring of Greenville; one son, Charles Herring of Campbell; two daughters, Marietta Wineinger and Stella Holley, both of Greenville; three brothers, Hubert Edwards and Leo Edwards, both of Greenville and Elvin Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Ethel Austin of Jackson, Tenn., and Pearl Simms of Newark, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Herring on Nov. 11, 1965; a brother, Earl Edwards on Aug. 7, 1972; and a son, Leon Herring on Dec. 7, 1982. Pallbearers will be Dan Weatherly, Doug Dodson, Bobby Ottwell, L.C. Ballard, Tim Mackey and C.B. Pickle. Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
