Bio

Belton Journal September 23, 1880 "We are authorized to announce C.C. Rather as a candidate for the office of Constable, Precinct No.1, Bell Co." The Arlington Journal Arlington, Texas 1904 Thursday, April 21, 1904 "C.C. Rather, an old pioneer of Texas, died Saturday evening at Belton. Mr. Rather moved to Texas in 1849 and settled in Smith County. He moved to Bell in 1869 and has lived there since that time." Upon his wife's passing it was written that they had lived in Nolan Valley for a long time, but about ten years before she died they had moved to Beal Street in Belton. They were known for being energetic, hospitable, honest, and very kind.
